  • SEED TRADE

Manobo people from Mindanao barter seeds with other indigenous peoples (IPs) at the Iloilo provincial capitol yesterday. Several IP groups in the country held a dialogue on the mega dam project in Calinog, Iloilo. JOSELITO VILLASIS/PN

  • SHED THOSE EXCESS FATS

Women young and old do the zumba at the Iloilo Esplanade to stay in good shape. Zumba is a fitness program that combines Latin and international music with dance moves. Zumba routines incorporate interval training — alternating fast and slow rhythms — and resistance training. GUIJO DUEÑAS/PN

  • Boys gather around a friend playing a computer game at the Iloilo Terminal Market. A few more days and they are going back to school. Classes in public schools resume this June 1, 2015. Hopefully, they won’t skip classes just to play with computers. GUIJO DUEÑAS/PN

  • SOON TO BE COMPLETED

This new bridge on Iloilo City’s Muelle Loney is nearing completion. It will connect the City Proper to the district of Lapuz where a new ferry terminal — for sea crafts bound for Bacolod City dock — is located. The bridge, which will shorten the travel time from the downtown area to the ferry terminal, is part of the Iloilo Esplanade’s third phase of development. The overall aim is to further improve the Iloilo River’s economic potential. GUIJO DUEÑAS/PN
