IS THIS HOW BRIDGES ARE CONSTRUCTED?
JOSELITO VILLASIS/PN - The contractor of this bridge project at the Iloilo River has gotten the ire of the Sangguniang Panlungsod. Iloilo City councilors are questioning the techniques being used. Piles of soil are impeding the natural flow of water from Iloilo River to the Iloilo Strait. The bridge aims to connect the City Proper to Lapuz district where the passenger terminal for fast crafts has been relocated.
WHERE IS EVERYBODY?
This is Iloilo City’s Bonifacio Drive on Nov. 23, 2014, free from traffic congestion. Everybody stayed off the city’s streets to watch the fight between Manny Pacquiao and American challenger Chris Algieri. But on regular days, Bonifacio Drive and other downtown streets are congested, with private vehicles and public utility jeepneys almost bumper-to-bumper.
