    JOSELITO VILLASIS/PN - A curious boy checks out a hawksbill sea turtle measuring 17 inches in width and 18 inches in length in a large basin. This turtle and several others were released in Sitio Punta, Barangay Lawi, Jordan, Guimaras last week. The hawksbill turtle was rescued by the locales from a fisherman’s net. After being reported to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, it was nursed back to health for two months. Barangay Lawi was declared a marine turtle sanctuary in 1998.

    GUIJO DUEÑAS/PN - Bingka sells like hot cakes, according to this vendor selling the favorite Filipino snack near Molo Church in Iloilo City. After hearing the traditional misa de gallo or early dawn Mass, people would go to his stand and buy bingka, he says.
