The Department of Agrarian Reform in Iloilo has turned over infrastructure and post harvest facilities in Badiangan, Iloilo, for the Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs).
Badiangan Mayor Suzette Mamon said it is the active support and participation of the ARBs themselves which sustain the projects.
“This also shows DAR is not just for land distribution but for seeing to it that farmers live more productive lives with agrarian reforms,” Mamon said.
In simple ceremonies held recently, the projects turned over consisted of post harvest facilities like warehouse with toilet, handtractors, thresher and a check in the amount of P300,000, for the Astorga Multi-Purpose Cooperative.
DAR-Iloilo Information Officer Yvonne Senobin said the cash amount will be used to step up promotion of the Badiangan Instant Salabat through improved packaging and labeling.
“Instant salabat or instant ginger brew has many health benefits, and have already become popular,” Senobin said.
She added that the improvement of the product is under the National Technology Commercialization Program of the DAR Bureau of Agricultural Research.
The product is managed by the Agrarian Reform Community located in Bgy. Iniligan, Badiangan, Iloilo.
During the turn-over also, Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor said that the support projects are very important as a follow through after land distribution.
He said the people should take care of the projects, for them to raise their income and increase their productivity. (PIA6)
