ROXAS City — A new Robinsons Place mall, the eighth in the Visayas, will open in this city in November this year.

It will greatly contribute to the city’s economy, as it is expected to hire local workers and provide space for local entrepreneurs, said Lulay Alano, Robinsons’ vice president for lease.

The mall’s overall structure is expected to be completed by September, allowing tenants to make arrangements for space, Alano said.

At 37,000 square meters, the two-storey establishment will house a supermarket, a department store, restaurants, banks, cinemas, amusement stalls and local variety stores.

The mall — strategically located at Pueblo de Panay, a kilometer away from the city plaza — will cater to the needs of Capiceños and those from the neighboring provinces.

Being one of the fastest growing cities in the Visayas, Roxas is the most feasible site for the new Robinsons mall, Alano said.

Pueblo de Panay is a 300-hectare mixed-use master-planned township development dubbed a “city within the city.”

There, the Robinsons Place will be surrounded by the newly constructed Roxas City police station, a church, and the new Roxas City Integrated Transport Terminal.

“Roxas City is now ready for a new kind of service,” said Alano. “We are bringing in a world-class mall — that is the promise of Robinsons Land Group.”

Meanwhile, Alano said Robinsons plan to establish the “Lingkod Pinoy” project, which involves the construction of a one-stop area of government offices./PN
