ROXAS City — This city must be called the “logistics hub” of northern Panay, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Capiz Director Ermilinda Pollentes said.
Its strategic location allows the efficient delivery of goods from Luzon — Batangas, Romblon and Masbate, among others — to Visayas via the roll-on, roll-off service, Pollentes said.
“We can see that warehouses servicing northern Iloilo, Aklan and Boracay, are proliferating in this city. That is an indication of a good economy,” she said.
Two Dutch consultants came to Capiz months ago for create a master plan for a logistic route in the province, Pollentes said.
She said Gov. Victor Tanco Sr., Mayor Angel Alan Celino and Cong. Antonio del Rosario have recently signed the master plan.
The master plan involves a P700-million circumferential road that aims to make the transport of goods from the Culasi Port here to various locations easier and more convenient.
The project will connect the city to Ivisan and Pontevedra towns, and boost trade and development in agriculture, fisheries and tourism.
A priority project of the provincial government, it will be funded by the Japan Bank of International Cooperation./PN
