ILOILO City – The three brothers suspected to be drug personalities have been under surveillance by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

PDEA regional director Paul Ledesma told DyOK Aksyon Radyo-Iloilo yesterday that brothers Jhelon, Jorge and Jaylord Barcebas, as well as their father George, are among the personalities under the agency’s watch list.

The Barcebases’ house in Brgy. Zamora-Melliza was raided by elements of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) on Saturday.

Armed with a search warrant issued by Judge Danilo Galvez of the Regional Trial Court Branch 34, the team was able to recover from the house a 12-gauge shotgun, assorted live ammunitions, caliber .22 revolver, KG9 machine pistol, digital weighing scale, drug paraphernalia and three closed-circuit television cameras and monitor.

Three hand grenades, assorted live ammunitions and drug paraphernalia were recovered from Jorge’s room, while seized from the room of Jaylord were a caliber .45 pistol, holster and five big and elongated plastic sachets of shabu.

Of the three brothers, only Jaylord was around during the raid and was thus arrested.

The raid also resulted in the arrest of Raymar Causing of Anilao, Iloilo; Arnold Lance Llauderes of Molo district here; and a certain Genevieve of Guimaras, who happened to be in the house during the raid.

According to ICPO intelligence head Chief Insp. Ipil Dueñas, the Barcebases were often firing their guns and threatening their neighbors, prompting the raid.

He said the Barcebas brothers were the prime suspects in the shooting of their neighbor Fernando “Paco” Defensor, an alleged drug pusher and PDEA tipster, on November 17.

PDEA had denied using Defensor as an informant./PN
